Keto diet vs paleo diet: What are the differences?

The paleo diet is an eating plan that will promote optimal health. It involves whole foods and eliminates grains, legumes, and most processed foods. The paleo is about more than just a diet. It also includes a lifestyle component that focuses on wellness practices and exercise.

The keto diet focuses on reducing carbohydrates and uses fat to create energy. The diet drives your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. The main purpose of following the keto diet is to lose weight and to improve overall health.

One of the major differences between the keto and the paleo diet is the ideology itself. Paleo is more of a lifestyle choice beyond just the diet. It involves exercise and mindfulness in daily activities along with a dietary pattern. But keto doesn’t have any lifestyle component other than diet. The Paleo diet does not restrict some carb sources such as fruits, vegetables, and unrefined sweeteners while keto is strictly a low-carb diet.

Although paleo and keto are two different diets, they have many characteristics in common. Both diets encourage whole foods like fresh vegetables, meat, fish, and nuts instead of ultra-processed foods.
